Students at risk Reception and training for international students from conflict zones at the University of Trento in Trento, Italy
Art. 1. Object
1. A selection process for admission to the 2025/2026 academic year is announced at the University of Trento.
Reception and training project for international students from conflict zones, aimed at a maximum of ten students.
2. The ten selected students will be admitted to a one-year university training program (so- called Foundation Year) during which they will be able to attend individual courses and/or preparatory courses for a possible continuation of the training program (see Art. 4).
3. Any continuation of the training course, once the Foundation Year has ended, can take place
only with enrollment for the academic year 2026/27 in a first or second level degree course and subject to possession of the requirements for admission, as provided for by the teaching regulations of the study courses.
Art. 2.Recipients
- People who meet all of the following requirements can access the project:
- citizenship of a country outside the EU
- residence outside of Italian territory
- coming from a conflict zone
- current inability to start or continue one’s university studies under conditions of
security, due to the situation of conflict, instability and/or concrete danger
- possession of at least 12 years of schooling and a qualification suitable for access
to higher education in Italy (see Art. 3).
Art. 3. Access requirements and required documentation
- In order for your application to be considered suitable, you must:
- to be:
or citizens of a country outside the EU, or residents outside of Italian territory,
or coming from a conflict zone, and
or currently unable to start or continue their studies
university students in safe conditions, due to the situation of conflict, instability and/or concrete danger; and
- have completed a course of study that allows access to a first level degree course or level II in Italy.
- A copy of an identity document must be attached to the online application.
- The circumstances underlying the impossibility of continuing one’s university studies in
safety conditions, due to the situation of conflict, instability and/or danger
concrete, they can be described during the online application phase, through the
filling out the section called “Letter of motivation”.
- Without prejudice to the provisions of the following paragraph 5, to demonstrate completion of
a study path that allows access to a first or second level degree course in Italy is
The following documents must be submitted during the online application process:
- secondary school leaving qualification, obtained after a course of study
studies lasting at least twelve years and which allow access to studies
university students in Italy; or
- university degree that allows access to a second level degree course in Italy;
- any further documentation certifying the previously completed course of studies done.
- If the candidate does not have all or part of the documents necessary to verify the previous study path, the completion of the document called “Study history” is mandatory (available at the link https:// www.unitn.it/studenti-a-rischio), which must be attached, complete in
all its parts, to the online application. In this case, it is recommended to complete the document
always inserting the original language name of any academic qualifications obtained.
- Candidates may also submit additional information in the online application
documentation if they have it:
- language certifications;
- other academic or professional qualifications;
- certificates of comparability already in possession (CIMEA or EQPR);
- CV.
Art. 4. Foundation Year
1. The Foundation Year offers the opportunity to attend:
- Italian language courses and language courses relevant to the academic area of interest,
provided by the University Language Centre;
- courses aimed at obtaining IT skills;
- teaching courses (single courses), with possible exams in the area
academic interests, which will eventually be recognized in the study plan upon enrollment in a first or second level degree course (see Art. 1 co. 3);
- preparatory courses for taking a possible admission test or obtaining
of the requirements necessary for possible enrollment in the course of study of interest1 .
Art. 5. Scholarship and financial support
- During the Foundation Year, the students admitted to the project will be beneficiaries

- awarding of a scholarship of €7,200.00,paid in two installments.
The first instalment is paid upon the student’s arrival at the University.
Trento. The disbursement of the second installment is subject to the acquisition of the
attendance of the courses referred to in Article 4 or taking an exam within the
Summer/Fall session 2025/26 academic year. The scholarship is incompatible with similar financial benefits provided by the University or other public or private entities;
- exemption from paying university fees relating to course enrolment
singles;
- exemption from payment for the following courses offered by the Language Centre of
Ateneo (CLA):
or Italian language up to level B2;
or English language up to the level required by the study plan of the course of study
which the student intends to enroll in starting from the 2026/27 academic year;
- coverage of costs associated with:
or travel from the country of residence to Trento;
or procedures related to the issuing of the residence permit;
or registration with the National Health Service or health insurance
private.
Art. 6. Further forms of support
- During the Foundation Year, students admitted to the project will be entitled to
following forms of additional support:
- accommodation in a double room at the facilities of the Institute for the Right to Education (University Works of Trento);
- card for two free meals a day (seven days a week) at the canteens
university, provided by the Agency for the Right to Study (Opera Universitaria di Trento);
- access to dedicated academic tutoring and orientation services (UniTrento); • access to a dedicated psychological counseling service (UniTrento and Centro
Astalli Trento);
- access to a legal support service (Centro Astalli Trento);
- access to sporting activities in collaboration with UniTrento Sport (UniTrento);
- free annual pass for urban and extra-urban transport in the Province
of Trento (UniTrento);
- reception and integration activities in the territorial fabric (UniTrento and associations
local and local authorities).
Art. 7. Application procedures and deadlines
To be admitted to the selection process, candidates must complete the online application.
