{"id":723,"date":"2025-08-24T11:40:49","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T11:40:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/study.sudancareer.com\/?p=723"},"modified":"2025-08-24T11:40:50","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T11:40:50","slug":"european-union-traineeships-program-fully-funded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/study.sudancareer.com\/?p=723","title":{"rendered":"European Union Traineeships Program Fully Funded"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a192b35b83e50850cab4a545d537b362\"><strong>What is the Blue Book Traineeship programme?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Blue Book Traineeship programme is a five-month paid internship offered by the European Commission, providing graduates from around the world with hands-on experience in EU policymaking and administration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trainees work in a multicultural environment, develop professional skills, and gain insights into the operations of EU institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>About the traineeship<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Commission proposes 2 types of traineeship: an&nbsp;<strong>Administrative Traineeship<\/strong>&nbsp;or a&nbsp;<strong>Translation Traineeship<\/strong>&nbsp;with the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The traineeship programme is open to all eligible candidates whatever their citizenship, regardless of their sex, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, religion or belief, membership of a national minority, disability, age or sexual orientation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trainees work all over the European Commission, its services and agencies, mostly in Brussels, but also in Luxembourg and elsewhere across the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subsequent career opportunities may vary between these different entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nature of your work will depend on the service you are assigned to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may, for example, work in the field of competition law, human resources, environmental policy, translation, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>What does a trainee\u2019s daily work consist of?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attending and organising meetings, working groups, and public hearings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Researching, drafting and editing documentation \u2013 including reports and consultations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Answering citizens\u2019 inquiries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting the management of projects<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Translating, revising translations or researching terminology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>What do we expect from you?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An open-minded approach to European issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An interest in learning about the Commission\u2019s working methods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Willingness to work in a multicultural environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To contribute to the Commission\u2019s daily work from a fresh perspective<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A proactive attitude<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>What are the regular working hours in the Commission?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Commission employees work&nbsp;<strong>40 hours a week, 8 hours per day<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Official working hours are 8:00 &#8211; 19:00.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The minimum lunch break is 20 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your actual working hours will depend on your unit and your workload \u2013 please check with your adviser when you arrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>core hours&nbsp;<\/strong>when all staff is required to be available for interaction with other colleagues are&nbsp;<strong>9:30 &#8211; 12:00&nbsp;<\/strong>and&nbsp;<strong>15:00 &#8211; 16:30 (15:00 &#8211; 16:00 on Wednesday and Friday)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leave requests should be approved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>Who can apply?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Subject to eligibility criteria, the traineeship is open to all EU citizens, regardless of age. Only if you have a certificate or official confirmation from your university that you have such a degree will you be eligible to apply. You will have to provide the following documents:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>diplomas or certificates with final grades clearly indicated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and proof of minimum EQF 6 level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>have no prior work experience of any kind<\/strong>, in excess of&nbsp;<strong>6 weeks<\/strong>&nbsp;in any&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/europa.eu\/european-union\/contact\/institutions-bodies_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EU institution, body or agency<\/a>, delegation, with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), or Advocates General at the Court of Justice of the European Union (EUCJ) &nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>have a very good knowledge of languages:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For the&nbsp;<strong>administrative traineeship<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 you must have a very good knowledge of two EU official languages, one of which must be a working language: English, French or German at C1 or C2 level as per the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/common-european-framework-reference-languages\/level-descriptions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Common European Framework of Reference for Languages<\/a>&nbsp;and a second one at B2 level at least as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. For non-EU nationals, only one procedural language is required at C1 or C2 level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For the&nbsp;<strong>translation traineeship<\/strong>&nbsp;in the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT) &#8211; you must be able to translate into your main\/target language (normally your mother tongue), from two other official EU languages (\u2018source languages\u2019<strong>*<\/strong>).:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>your main\/target language must be one of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/european-union.europa.eu\/principles-countries-history\/languages_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">official EU languages<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your first source language for translation must be a working language of the EU: English, French or German<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>your second source language can be any of the official EU languages with at least B2-level proficiency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>*&nbsp;<\/strong><small>At least one of the&nbsp;<strong>source languages<\/strong>&nbsp;you offer must be French, English or German. This is because<\/small><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><small>the EU receives a large volume of translations and documents in French, English or German<\/small><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><small>French, English and German are the languages that EU staff members most frequently use in their work<\/small><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><small>Most documents sent to DGT in languages other than French, English and German come from the Member States. Some documents come from international organisations and national associations that write to the Commission in English.<\/small><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No points are awarded for the mother tongue and, therefore, no evidence of this is required.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have more than one mother tongue and wish to receive points for them, you can declare these in the \u2018Other languages\u2019 section of the application provided you can supply appropriate written evidence of this.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Additional points are given for:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>work experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>international profile demonstrated through education, work or volunteering experience abroad, and aptitude to work in an international environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>rare fields of study<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are not selected you will have to submit your application again. The same process will apply each time but without guarantee that you will make it to the final stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>Questions about eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is there an age limit for applying?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No<\/strong>. There is no age limit for participating in the traineeships programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What supporting documents should be attached to the application form?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You should provide the following documents,&nbsp;<strong>preceded by a table of contents<\/strong>&nbsp;showing the list of documents in the PDF, point by point, in the following order:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong>&nbsp;Copy of a&nbsp;<strong>valid passport or identity card<\/strong>&nbsp;proving the nationality indicated in the application form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong>&nbsp; Copies of&nbsp;<strong>all university degrees<\/strong>&nbsp;indicated in the application form and\/or transcripts from the relevant university (i.e. list of subjects studied each year).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>&nbsp;Copies of&nbsp;<strong>certifications\/licenses<\/strong>&nbsp;obtained, as indicated in the application form, if applicable (eg. IT certifications, TOGAF, ITIL, Bar exams, CPA, CFA&#8230;). In order to be taken into account, the certificate must clearly state that the holder has passed the exam. Simply attending the course does not suffice and participation certificates are not considered. Please do not indicate seminars, training courses or language certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4.<\/strong>&nbsp;Copies of&nbsp;<strong>evidence of all declared work experience&nbsp;<\/strong>in the home country, as indicated in the application form, if applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This may include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Letters of reference from an employer, which must be headed\/duly signed and stamped, dated and clearly indicate the period of work &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contracts that clearly state the period of work&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay slips which clearly state the period of work&nbsp;<strong>(please present first and last payslip)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tax declarations are accepted also for freelancers provided that they cover the period in question and the employer is clearly identified&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Invoices provided that they cover the period in question and the employer is clearly identified.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>5.<\/strong>&nbsp;Copies of&nbsp;<strong>evidence of all international experience<\/strong>&nbsp;indicated in the application form, if applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Work experience&nbsp;may include:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Letters of reference from an employer, which must be headed or&nbsp;duly signed, dated and clearly indicate the period of work&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contracts that clearly state the period of work&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay slips which clearly state the period of work&nbsp;<strong>(please present first and last payslip)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:&nbsp;<\/strong>E-mails are not accepted as evidence unless they contain a valid on-line signature.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Experience of mobility abroad&nbsp;may include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Copies of diplomas obtained abroad&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Erasmus certificates&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificates from study exchange programmes&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificates of volunteer work&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay slips which clearly stating&nbsp;the period of work&nbsp;<strong>(please present first and last payslip)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>&nbsp;E-mails are not accepted as evidence unless they contain a valid on-line signature. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dates in the application form and the supporting documents must match (any mismatch even small will lead to exclusion). You should declare international studies both in the education part and in the international experience part of the application form. &nbsp;<strong>International work experience should be declared only under international experience.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>6.<\/strong>&nbsp;Copies of&nbsp;<strong>evidence of language skills<\/strong>&nbsp;declared in the application form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can prove your proficiency in a language by one of the following means:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Certificates of language courses clearly indicating the level of knowledge achieved issued by:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>language centres such as Instituto Cervantes, Alliance fran\u00e7aise, Goethe Institut, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>state-recognised language schools issuing certified attestations and that make a clear correspondence to CERF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate of attendance of a superior level can count as proof of the immediately inferior level. Example: Certificate of attendance of a C1 level can be accepted as proof of a B2 level.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>University course: BA or MA taught wholly or partly in the language declared:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A degree wholly taught in the declared language allows a declaration of a C2 level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A degree partially taught in the declared language, i.e. corresponding to at least half of the credits needed to obtain the degree (this must be clear from the transcripts: the teaching must be given and the examinations taken and passed in the said language) allows a declaration of a C1 level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificates of&nbsp;<strong>bilingual education at secondary level<\/strong><strong>issued by European Schools, international highschools<\/strong>, etc. allow a declaration of a C1 level.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Secondary level of education entirely concluded in a certain language<\/strong>&nbsp;corresponds to a C2 level.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mother tongues&nbsp;<\/strong>are also considered a &#8216;very good knowledge&#8217;.
