Vocational Training Program for Refugees and Host Communities in Cairo – Egypt

The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Technical Education and Vocational Training Project for refugees and host communities in Greater Cairo. This initiative aims to equip refugees, youth, and host communities in Greater Cairo with the necessary skills to secure sustainable employment and to start or expand small businesses.

The program offers a variety of training courses, including:

  • Sewing
  • Cooking
  • Baking
  • Cake Decorating
  • Electrical Work
  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
  • Mobile Phone Maintenance

In addition to technical skills training, the program includes sessions on:

  • Protection
  • Employment Skills
  • Starting Personal Projects

Furthermore, the program provides cash grants to a percentage of participants who are accepted to start or expand their small businesses. There will also be training on labor-related laws.

Who can apply for the vocational training?

  • Refugees and asylum seekers with valid ID (UNHCR card), as well as Egyptians with a valid national ID card.
  • Must reside in Greater Cairo (Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia).
  • Age between 18 and 35 years.
  • Must not be enrolled in formal education or those wishing to join formal education.
  • Must be able to read and write in Arabic.
  • Must be able to commit to attending all training sessions or at least 90% of the scheduled classes (average duration between three weeks to two months continuously).
  • Original and copy of the UNHCR card or national ID card.
  • Copy of the rental contract in Greater Cairo if not listed on the ID card.

  2. Follow-up: After registration, applicants will be contacted to attend introductory sessions and conduct an interview at the office where they will submit the required documents.

Notes

  • CRS will directly contact applicants who meet the criteria via a phone call. Please ensure that you provide an accessible phone number along with an alternate number.
  • Training is available for a limited number of participants. If you meet the application criteria, you must commit to attending all program activities.
  • Applications are accepted from all nationalities, and both males and females, including those with special needs.

This project is part of the implementation of the Partnership for Improving Prospects for Refugees, Asylum Seekers, and Host Communities (Prospects) program supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The partnership includes the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the International Finance Corporation, the International Labour Organization, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
