Other supporting documents (needed for a final decision)

  • TOEFL score (min. is 68 iBT for MS and 79 iBT for PhD) or IELTS score (min. is 6 for MS and 6.5 for PhD).
  • Acceptable GRE General score (min. Quant. is 156, min. Analytical Writing is 4.0).
  • Upon approval, original/certified copies of degree certificate(s) and transcript(s) are to be sent through postal mail.

Admission Requirement for MS Programs in Engineering or Sciences

The minimum requirements for possible admission in Master programs in engineering or sciences are as below:

  • A four-year Bachelor’s (B.S.) Degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
  • A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent (For Scholarship Applicants ) or 2.50 or higher on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent (For Non-Scholarship Applicants).
  • Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 520 (PBT), 190 (CBT) or 70 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies (KFUPM code is 0868). IELTS is also acceptable (min 6.0).
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably from the faculty who taught the applicant university-level courses. [to be submitted through the online recommendation system]
  • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.

Note:

Satisfying the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission into the program as final admission is subject to an evaluation of the whole application, and the capacity of individual programs.

Admission Requirement for MS Programs in Bussiness Administration

The minimum requirements for possible admission as a regular graduate student in a Master program in Business Administration are as follows:

  • A four-year Bachelor’s (B.A., B.S. or B.E.) Degree in business, engineering or sciences fields from a recognized institution.
  • A Grade-Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.00 on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent. Official transcripts and degree certificates are required for final admission.
  • Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score of 520 (PBT), 190 (CBT) or 70 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies (KFUPM code is 0868). IELTS is also acceptable [min 6.0].
  • Completion of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT ) with a minimum score of 450. The GMAT scores must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies (KFUPM code for GMAT is 0868).
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably from the faculty who taught the applicant undergraduate courses. [to be submitted through the online recommendation system]
  • At least one course in college-level calculus which covers both differentiation and integration subjects.
  • A working knowledge of computers as evidenced by at least one course in that area (e.g. data processing, programming, information systems, etc.)
  • At least three years of full-time work experience. This requirement may be waived for graduate assistants, research assistants, and applicants with exceptional academic records. For Executive MBA program, a minimum experience of 8 years, including 3 years in mid or upper-level managerial position.
  • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.

Satisfying the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission into the program as final admission is subject to an evaluation of the whole application, and the capacity of individual programs.  Admission Requirement for PhD Programs  

The minimum requirements for possible admission to the Ph.D. Programs as a regular graduate student in engineering or sciences are as follows:

  • An M.S. degree in engineering or science from an institution whose graduate programs are equivalent to those of (KFUPM), with a major in the proposed field or evidence of suitable background for entering the proposed field.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.00 on a scale of 4.00 or equivalent in both the B.S. and M.S. degrees. Official transcripts and degree certificates are required for admission.
  • Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score for MS admission of 550 (PBT), 213 (CBT) or 80 (IBT). The TOEFL score must be sent directly to the Deanship of Graduate Studies. The KFUPM code is 0868. IELTS is also acceptable [min 6.5].
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably from the faculty who taught the applicant graduate courses.
  • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.

Note:

Satisfying the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee admission into the program as final admission is subject to an evaluation of the whole application, and the capacity of individual programs.  

All Documents should be submitted via the upload system only in PDF format, except the recommendation letters which should be submitted by the academic referees themselves via the online recommendation system.

Along with the complete online application, make sure the following documents are submitted through the upload system before the deadline :

1. Complete Transcripts [Mandatory for application processing]

Ph.D. applicants should upload complete and official transcripts for both the Bachelor and Master degrees.

Master Applicants should upload a complete and official transcript for the Bachelor degree.

Transcripts should be in English only. Other language transcripts should be translated into English by a certified translator.

Only University-level transcripts are required and not the high school ones.

Once an applicant is approved for graduate studies, he should send hardcopy official transcripts through postal mail. The postal address can be taken from the contact information

2. Statement of Purpose [Mandatory for application processing]

A one-page essay outlining your previous research and/or practical experience, why did you choose KFUPM for graduate studies, and your intended academic and research interests in your graduate program at KFUPM

3. Identification [Mandatory for application processing] 

Saudi Citizens: National Identification Card

Residents of Saudi Arabia with a Residence Permit: Iqama

International Applicants: Passport

4. Two Recommendation Letters [Mandatory for application processing]

In the online application, the section “Recommendation Information” requires an applicant to provide names and emails of two academic referees. These academic referees will be contacted by KFUPM to submit an online recommendation letter via a standard web browser before the deadline. This deadline will be informed to the applicant as well as the recommender.

5. Color Photograph with White Background  [Mandatory for application processing] (Optional for female applicants)

Applicants need to upload in PDF format with following requirements:

A CV mentioning the applicants’ education and work experience. 

7. Degree Certificates 

Applicants who have completed their respective programs at the time of application should upload the official degree certificate(s).

Ph.D. applicants should upload official certificates of both the Bachelor and Master degrees.

Once an applicant is approved for admission, final admission will not be granted unless he provides authentic copies of his degree certificate(s).

8. TOEFL/IELTS (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 

Applicants are encouraged to upload TOEFL score sheet along with the application documents.

In case of unavailability of TOEFL, the application can be submitted without it. However, it is mandatory to be produced before final admission for all applicants.

  • Minimum Score required from Ph.D. applicants: 79 / 120 [iBT] or 6.5 [IELTS Academic]
  • Minimum Score required from Master applicants: 68 / 120 [iBT] or 6.0 [IELTS Academic]

9. GRE (Graduate Record Examination) 

  • GRE is required for all applicants applying to graduate programs in Engineering or Sciences.
  • Applicants are encouraged to upload their GRE score (minimum requirements: MS- Quantitative: 156, Analytical: 4.0 and Verbal:143 and PhD- Quantitative: 159, Analytical: 4.0 and Verbal:143) along with the application documents.
  • In case of unavailability of GRE, the application can be submitted without it. However, it is mandatory to be produced before final admission for all applicants.

10. GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) 

  • GMAT is required for all applicants applying to graduate programs in Business.
  • International applicants must submit GMAT score sheet at the time of application. International applications without a GMAT score will not be evaluated.
  • Local applicants are encouraged to upload their GMAT score sheet along with the application documents.
  • In case of unavailability of GMAT, the application can be submitted without it. However, it is mandatory to be produced before final admission.
